The General Election of 1970
The election of 1970 has great significance in the history of the liberation movement of Bangladesh. A General Election held in 1970. In this election Awamilig leading by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman won this election. But East Pakistan didn’t delegate power to the elected public representatives.
Historic 7th March Speech
7th March The historic speech of Bangabandhu came as an obvious guideline for the nation, amid lots of anxieties and thrills prevailing all over the country. The meeting was announced earlier. It held on Racecourse Maidan (now Suhrawardy Uddyan). The Uddyan overflowed with millions of people on this day of 1971.

Operation Search Light
A painful chapter opened up at midnight on March 25. Pakistani army attacked unarmed, innocent and common people of East Pakistan at that time. They named this mission “Operation searchlight”. Though this operation launched on 25 March it was planned at the beginning of March.
After all, preparation was made, March 25 was selected for genocide. Major General Rao Farman Ali was assigned for this mission. Act of killing continued in Jagannath Hall, Rokeya Hall and Jahurul Hoque Hall.

For the genocide in Dhaka, Bangabandhu declared Independence and the declaration was broadcasted via wireless. Immediately after hearing the announcement by Bangabandhu, the war of liberation started.
