History of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on 17 April 1920. He was born in a respective Muslim family. His birth village is Tungipara under the district Gopalgonj.
Bangabandhu was a student of Dhaka University. He was a student of law but couldn’t complete his study. He had a great contribution in so many movements of Bangladesh.
Political Career of Bangabandhu
His political career starts by joining the Nikhil Bharat Muslim Chhatra Federation. It has stronger when he was elected as the councillor of Muslim League in 1946.
Bangabandhu was directly involved in the language movement. He got arrested on March 11, 1948. He became the General Secretary of Awami League in 1953.
Bangabandhu raised the legal demands and started the 6 point movement in 1966. In the general election of 1970, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became elected under Awami League. But the Pakistani government and leaders didn’t hand over the power to Bangabandhu.

On 7 March 1971, he made that historic speech in front of millions of people. This was the call of Independence. Finally, on 26 March, Bangabandhu declared the liberation war for Independence. Major Ziaur Rahman also spread it all over the country on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After a bloody 9 months war, East Pakistan became independent. On 15 August 1975, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was murdered along with most of his family in a military coup.

The 100th birth anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is going to held in 2020. In this 100th birthday occasion, Bangladesh is going to observe “Mujib Sotoborsho.”
Mujib Sotoborsho will be observed from 17 March 2020 to 26 March 2021. During this period of time, there are so many plans and so many initiatives are selected to observe.
