Short History of 26 March Independence Day of Bangladesh
In 1970 a general election held under the Pakistani Government. Awami League, led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahma, won the general election of the ’70s. That was a great victory of Bengali then. But the Pakistani rulers started a conspiracy to delay the transfer power to the Bengalese.
At Midnight of 25 march, the Pakistani army launched a sudden attack named Operation searchlight on unarmed and innocent Bengalese and started a genocide. They attacked the Dhaka Universit hall and Rajarbag police lines. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was attasted that night. At that time He declared the independence of Bangladesh. On the next day 26 March on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Mejor Ziaur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh and ordered all class of people to join the liberation war of Bangladesh.
